Variable Definition
Survey participants are classified as having durable walls if they responded that their exterior walls are mostly composed of durable materials as defined by IPUMS. IPUMS defined durable walls as masonry, stone, cement, adobe, metal, glass, and other fabricated materials (sometimes mixed with wood).
