Hypertension Control
Variable Definition
Hypertension control is defined as persons currently using hypertension medication AND systolic blood pressure<140 AND diastolic blood pressure<90. Uncontrolled hypertension is defined as persons currently using hypertension medication AND [systolic blood pressure ≥ 140 OR diastolic blood pressure ≥ 90]. Hypertension control is only defined amongst respondents who answered “yes” to using hypertension medications. Hypertension control (SVYHTCTRL) should only be used when the research question is specifi-cally about hypertension control. It SHOULD NOT be used to assess hypertension prevalence.
