Variable Definition

Total carbon (CO2) footprint of a geography.Unit for total carbon footprint is ktCO2 (1kt = 1000 ton). Interpretation: total carbon emission (carbon footprint) in a geography based on national or subnational carbon footprint, the geography’s population, purchasing power and expenditure patterns. Higher values indicate greater carbon emissions, which may indicate more emissions of co-pollutants (e.g. NOx, SOx) and anthropogenic heat.
