Lifetime Tobacco Use (Any Amount)
Variable Definition
Lifetime smoked tobacco use (any amount). Respondents are classified as never, former or current smokers (the number of tobacco prod-ucts smoked is not used). Smoking status is classified as never smokers, former smokers, and current smokers. A survey participant is classified as never smoker if they report never smoking any tobacco. Those who have smoked any tobacco before, but do not currently smoke are con-sidered former smokers. Current smokers are those who have reported smoking any tobacco in their lifetime and are current tobacco smokers.
