Variable Definition

Lifetime smoked tobacco use (100+ any smoked tobacco). Respondents are classified as never, former or current smokers of at least 100 or more cigarettes/cigars/pipes. A respondent is classified as a never smoker if they report not having smoked 100 cigarettes/cigars/pipes in their lifetime. Former smokers are those who have smoked at least 100 cigarettes/cigars/pipes in their lifetime, but do not currently smoke. Those who have smoked at least 100 cigarettes/cigars/pipes and who current smoke are considered current smokers.
