Variable Definition

Presence of hypertension diagnosis by a health care provider among adults regardless of whether hypertension was diagnosed during pregnancy or not (adult female respondents who report a hypertension diagnosis during pregnancy are considered to be hypertensive). A survey participant is classified as having hypertension (hypertension or hypertension during pregnancy) if they report having been told by a physician or health care provider that they have hypertension or high blood pressure. This is referred to as Hypertension version 2 (V2).
