Variable Definition

Binary indicator that distinguishes between coastal (with a value of 1) and inland geographies (with a value of 0). Coastal geographies are those with parts of their boundaries within 1 km from the closest coastline, whereas inland regions represent the rest. Interpretation: Coastal regions should be treated differently as they are more influenced by oceans.
